Question width of OEM 17 gt wheel??

i have 225/50/17 goodyear gt's on the car. I want to know width of the wheel because I want to get a wider tire on the car. Does anyone know if i can go with 235 or 245?

Stock Tire - 225/50R17
Section Width: 8.85 in 225 mm
Rim Width Range: 6 - 8 in

Tire 1 - 235/50R17
Section Width: 9.25 in 235 mm
Rim Width Range: 6.5 - 8.5 in

Tire 2 - 245/45R17
Section Width: 9.64 in 245 mm
Rim Width Range: 7.5 - 9 in

Both tires fall within 3% of speedo reading

As for what fits and what doesn't, I bet they'd be close

Give Discount Tire a call. They can help you plus size your tires and help you find what tire you need.

Note that a wider tire may give you more acceleration traction, but you will take a hit in handling.

how much worse would the handling get if i just went up to 235 because tread wall stays at 50? I just want to add a little beefy look to it with the wider tire, i really dont know if they'd even stick out the side that much with just the 235 but w.e
