Getting New Rims, Do I have 17s or 18s?

I recently purchased an '09 G6 V6 sedan (base) that has the Chrome Tech cladded wheels. Two wheels have bent rims and I am looking at aftermarket wheels. My tires are 225/50/R17, but measuring the diamater of the wheels shows exactly 18 inches (see photos).

I would like to keep the same tires and I know new 17 inch wheels will fit my tires, but did they somehow stretch these tires on 18 inch rims or am I doing it wrong?

Seriously? -.-

You are doing it wrong!
A 17 tire can't possibly be stretched onto a 18 rim, and anyone that tries is insane

The diameter of the rim is measured from the lowest point on the ring of the wheel, not the outer lip. If you have R17's on your rims, you have 17 inch rims.

Left a 421RWHP 2004 GTO, but honestly loving the G6 GT coupe!

Past Pontiacs
87' white Firebird(sold)
01' green Grand Am SE2(traded for the 03')
03' orange Grand Am SC/T(totaled)
04' blue GTO(traded for the G6)

Current Pontiacs
00' tan Montana(I swear, its the wife's)
06' black G6 GT Coupe

Edit: you had rim where tire is bold lol...

if the tire says 17 then the rim is 17.

Chrome Techs are 17" Get 17" rubbe or wheels to match ur current rubber. Ignore your ruler.

I bought aftermarket 17's cause I had just bought new rubber as well....way back when.

MODS:
Crab Intakes CAB, MPD Ram Air hood, Custom exhaust,
WAMS High Performance Tune and a whole lot more....

I figured it was something like that, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks for the help all.
