Question About Some Craigslist Rims

Hi all,

I was surfing through some local deals when I found someone selling a set of 4 Touren TR3's near me.

The price on the ad is listed as $150 so I immediately jumped on it and offered to buy them.
My car is a stock G6 4DR '05 and comes with 16" Wheels standard.
Now I just have a few questions:
1) He says they are 17x7, 5x110/5x120 dual bolt pattern. These should fit, right?
2) Any recommendations on a tire that'll fit this without drastic changes in speed?
3) He says one centre cap is missing... Any thoughts on where I can find one?
And finally, is there anything special I should know about buying wheels second hand? I'm completely new to this, haha!

Thanks for your help!

never heard of a dual bolt pattern...the g6 is 5x110 i believe. 17in rim so you'll need new tires. don't think i wouldve bought it without a center cap thats just gunna look bad- try contacting touren to see if they'll send a replacement. choose whatever tire as long as its 17in. is it $150 for all 4?

Apparently this brand does a dual-bolt pattern quite often, from what I've read online anyway.
Regarding the centre cap, it's just one and I am sure I can get a replacement, it's just a matter of finding out where to get it. I'll try to contact Touren.
And for the tire, I was looking for one that wouldn't change my speedometer much. Any recommendations?
And yes, $150 for all four, the only reason I was extremely interested. In $CAD too haha!

Use a tire calculator such as this, try different combinations of sidewall heights and tread widths till you find a size that is closest to your stock tire size.

150 for a set of wheels seems a little fishy to me...

Thanks for the tire calc! Bookmarked, haha.

I just got an e-mail from the guy because I asked for more details, and he sent me an e-mail of a box...

I agree the price seems low, but I'm hoping he is a nice guy and not a scammer... if all four wheels are in one piece and look proper, should I buy it? I can not test out anything else because I won't have the right tires for a week at least pending on if I buy these this weekend or not... Suggestions?

EDIT: Just realized the box says 5-112/5-120... G6 is 5-110 right? :$ Any way around this?

yeah the g6 is 5-110. You can get adapters that change the stub pattern. But they are expensive. Might as well just look for different wheels

i agree with dmanj...ive learned if a deal is too good to be true, it usually is. and since he already told you an incorrect bolt pattern, i'd be wary of this seller...

ask him for a pic of the wheel with the center cap missing.... you cant tell if it will fit on the car or not but if there are several holes for the lugs to sit, then he wasnt lying about the dual pattern which isnt uncommon at all to have... thats how vendors make money by making a wheel "universal" for different cars.. Do you get to see these in person? I would definitely take a ride to see them, i would have a baseball bat in the car for safe measure's as well craigslist has some freaks on there! just be careful! i would buy them for 150 bucks if i had the cash to pick up tires as well they are a nice looking wheel

My rims have 10 holes in them but only 1 pattern. Personally, I'd just walk away. There are other rims out there, with more reliable sellers.

really?? wow if that isn't misleading as hell... well take my "hole" idea and piss it away my bad haha

edit: like he said. just walk away. craigslist always has wheels for a steal. plus winter rolling around soon, you dont want them on for winter time, wait till spring my man when everyone is buying there new updated wheels and you can pick up the previous seasons!
