Ball joints

I tried to search the net but couldn't find anything really useful.

I see they just don't sell ball joints, they sell you the whole arm for obvious reasons and honesty i don't think id want to attempt pressing them out of cast aluminum with no meat around the socket on the press anyway. so im just going to buy a set and install them. iv never dealt with ball joints that don't use a castle nut and cotter pin, so im assuming these are press fit? how do these psychically mate together? do you have to remove the spindle assembly to press in the ball joints into the spindle on a press? or can you do this while its on the car? anyone done this or have pics to give me an idea of how its attached? or some type of write up i will be doing this for a co-worker so i don't have the car handy, its a 06 G6.
Thanks in advance.

So what exactly are you looking to do? At first you said you do not want to attempt pressing the ball joints out, and next said you are going to pick up ball joints and are asking how to press them out?

Most anywhere you look will only sell you the control arm with the ball joint already installed for anywhere from $50 to $150+. If you can find the ball joints alone, however, the tool spec'd out in the G6 shop manual is GM J-43631 - Ball Joint Remover which itself is about $150.

You can look up the tool online, essentially it is a small C-clamp tool designed to fit our ball joints. Good luck, let us know if it works out for you.
