Led turn signal mirrors

So.. my latest idea is to somehow incoporate led strips in the mirror and have them flash with the turn signals. Anybody out there who has seen this done on our cars or with ideas opinions etc? thanks

Cool idea, though the fact that they're stick on worries me. Maybe if you could pick up some spare mirror caps, cut a hole in them and fit them to the inside, assuming there is room inside to do that.

I've been tryin to work out a way to do something similar, though the options aren't very wide. I was looking at just putting the lights inside and having it shine out between the side of the mirror and the housing, Pretty much to act as a signaler for people in my blind spot. but it'll still be hidden when not in use.

Something you could do with the led idea is take the directional led strips like from autozone that are for the Audi mod and tuck them right in the little crevice between the mirror and the housing. And then wire them to the turn signals.

Thanks for the ideas. So what should I wire it to, to make it flash with turn signals. The parking light is what I am thinking but I don't want them on unless the turn signal is on

I would think You could wire them to the turn signal relay which I believe is under the hood. But I could be mistaken.

No problem. One of my buddies that works at pepboys put a light bar across his bottom grille of whatever he drives and I remember him telling me that he hooked it up to his blinker relay. So idk where its at I just know that's how he did it. But I think I remember seeing it in the fuse box next to the battery when I was looking for something else.

you could tap into the headlight, where it would be one of the five wires. I'm not sure which one, but get a volt tester, turn on the blinker, and it should flash 12v's. I mean, thats a lot of extra wiring, but it would work.

good luck! Yea tapping into the wire for the front turn signals should do it, you'll get the flash for turn signal, hazards, and when you use keyless entry. I'm sure you can tap into the harness somewhere in the kick panel. I've been working on a similar project, my idea was to put a small strip between the mirror and housing on the very end, but I'm starting to think about something a little more indepth...

Oh I will.. I may make a whole thread about it. but I need to get in there and see how I want to do it, I think just for the ease of it I may go with putting a small LED strip in the corner of the housing next to mirror. Just because it'll be less involved and I'll be less likely to damage something badly
