I used Krylon Plastic Paint for my engine cover. I let it dry for about 8 hours before reinstalling. Any enamel or plastic paint that states it can be used in high temperature areas should be fine

Prolly due to oils etc. Wash it good. Tac cloth and all....and scuff & primer it first.

Gotta make sure you scuff it, give the paint something to adhere to. You can use a scotch-brite pad, go over the entire thing. Then give it a good wipe with some surface cleaner to denatured alcohol, Once all prepped and dry. A good primer and paint, Like the others said a good paint designed for plastic should work just fine.
