take the headlights apart

Hey guys, I'm trying to paint the ambers n the headlights black..I really need to know how to take the headlights apart without breaking them..

Some forums for other cars say that we can just throw the headlights in the oven then it'll be easier.. I tried using hairdryer, but it didn't really work at all..

I know that there was an earlier thread about this, but some how the pics are all gone.. also the links to the pictures..

I appreciate any help..thanx..

just gotta heat up the sealant again and maybe use a clamp or something to hold it tight till dries. but make sure its really tight or youll get moisture in the headlights

Just to give you a heads up man....If your head lights have the gray colored sealant, it is very, very, very difficult to take them apart.

If you do get them apart you will have to scrape all the gray stuff off and put the black permatex type sealant on ( I can't remember what the name of the black sealant is). You will not be able to re-heat the gray sealant and make it stick.

The gray stuff is just too hard.

Black stuff is ok and seems to seal better.
