Cool Tire Size Suggestions for Stock 18" Wheels

I'm upgrading my Stock 16" Wheels to Stock 18" Wheels. The G6 comes standard with a 225/50/18 Tire. I am also considering a 225/45/18 Tire and a 235/45/18 Tire.

I want an aggressive sporty look, without it looking to thin of a tire or just plain stupid on the car.

I'm looking at the Continental ExtremeContact DWS as a possible tire.

Does anyone have any suggestions. How does the stock size look vs maybe a 225/45/18 or a 235/45/18?

Pics of your 18" wheels and tires with a size description would be greatly appreciated!

The 225/50/18 look good on my GTP Coupe and handle awesome thanks to the Bridgestone Potenza RE050's I had put on after a few hundred miles of those junk Goodyear Eagle LS2s that came on it stock.

I have 225/50/R17 on my 06. Im guessing I can easily upgrade to R18?

Also what is the defferece or meaning of "45" vs "50" that is called out in the middle?

Never mind about the R18 upgrade i figured that out actually i figured it all out thanks google.

i just went to the tire shop three weeks ago we tried a 245/45/18 the tire wes about an 1/8 inch from the strut it will rub in a turn. then we tried a 235/50/18 the tire was very close to the fender if you hit a bump in a turn it will bend your fender. you still have to watch that you don't go to big or small you can throw your ABS/ECM off and it will give your car a check engine light.I got a set of goodyear ASSURANCE TRIPLE TRED 225/50/18

Well I got pretty lucky this weekend, I noticed the rearend shaking going about 20mph and once I noticed that I could really notice the vibrations at 80mph. Took it in the dealer and since it's under warranty they put on 4 new tires, they're only Falken's but heck they're free

I ended up going with a 335/45/18 Continental ExtremeContact DWS. The 335 is slightly wider tire which will provide a slightly more aggressive look then the 225 but will still fit on the rim with no problems. The Tire had extremely good reviews on TireRack.com for both summer performance and winter handling. I'm getting them put on tomorrow, I'll let you know what I think.

Just thought I'd shoot out an update. The Continental ExtremeContact tires look awesome on the G6 with the 18's. I actually smile every time I walk up to the car now instead of hating the profile.

I'd definitely recommend the Continental ExtremeContact if your looking for new tires. Check out the reviews on TireRack.com...it's one of the highest rated tires on there and the price is pretty reasonable. The ride on them is extremely smooth and it handles curves wonderfully. My stock Eagles that the G6 originally had always squealed around curves and seemed to slip.

I would recommend however if your going to put new wheels on your car I probably would have gone with a slightly thinner sidewall if I did it again. So possibly a 235/40/18 instead of the 235/45/18.

I'm looking to lower the car a 1/2 inch or maybe 1 inch with some new springs to improve handling. If anyone has any recommendations let me know.

I'm also looking to install a performance chip for the G6 so any recommendations in that arena would be greatly appreciated.
