2005 g6 gt radio question

Hello everyone, I have been a forum lurker for some time and have recently decided to join. This forum has been a great source of information for me in the past however I've ran into a question that I cannot find the answer to. I've seen the auxiliary input threads on this forum and I don't think anybody has come across my situation before. I really want an auxiliary input on my radio and I've gone through many different options on how to do so. In the past I purchased the Upac gm11b unit that I saw mentioned on the side and went through the instructions on how to connect it. After I verify that was connected properly I tried to use this new system by using the band button on the radio to get the XM. Once I got to XM, radio would freeze and I would have to restart the car. I figured that meant that the ex M feature of my radio was turned off so I called the dealership and ask them if they knew how to turn that feature back on. I was told that if you cannot cycle through the radio selections using the band button that that meant the radio was not ask and capable and there was nothing they could do. I try to explain what I was trying to do and the service guy simply could not follow.

So on to my question. I have the six disc monsoon radio with the bad button and the P type button. Is my radio XM capable and was my problem that XM radio was not turned on? Was I dealing with an idiot at the dealership? Any thoughts as to a solution to my problem? FM modulation is not an option and I'd rather avoid going aftermarket because I like the look of the stock system.
