Question Driver's Information Center Question for aftermarket stereo

I want to put in a Double DIN stereo in my G6, and was wondering if there is a way to retain the Driver's Information Center for it. I know there are ones for single DIN. Any ideas?

you would have to fabricate something using the single din aftermarket DIC... I know a guy who put his DIC in the glove, just a thought

Ham,

Try this adobe file for a brief explanation of the "din" thang. It's at http://www.installdr.com/TechDocs/999006.pdf

Thanks!

I haven't found anything yet either. I want to put an In Dash GPS in and I like the larger face without it coming out and blocking the air vents in the center dash. I will keep looking. I may settle and get the smaller DIN radio eventually.

Hi Everyone, I'm new here and just bought an 08 G6 last week. My question is, can I install (will have Best Buy do it) a touch screen stereo similar to this one and still somehow keep the DIC (information center)?

You need a metra kit and to extend the wires and stick is somewhere else, as in glove box or center console.

Mods: GT-R exhaust, CRABs O3 w/FPU, 35% tint, 5000K HID lows/fogs, upper/lower recessed grilles, Racingline strut bar, concept darts, white LEDs everywhere

Metra 95-3303B

This kit will solve all your problems for those that have been searching all day like I have. It forces you to use a single Din but lets face it, there isn't much more the double Din can offer that you cant get out of a single these days.
So far the cheapest i have found this is $230 off ebay but Ill keep you posted if I find it better. Model is "Metra 95-3303B"

Boomer I was told that I have to purchase the Metra 95-3303B if I wanted to keep the DIC, but double Den should work, and the cost of it is ridiculous at $229.00 to $300.00, I might just go without the Metra because I never used the Steering wheel controls anyway.

Why not just install it yourself? All you do is colour match the wires and connect them together.
