nOOb question

Hello everyone, I realize that this my be one of the stupidest questiosn ever asked, but i need to ask, I've done many amp/sub installs on other cars and never had to splice in wires just straight connections (which made things easier). I'm about to install a LOC on a friends car and was just thinking about splicing the wires.

My question is I'm not sure exactly how to splice the wire for the rear speaker into the LOC did you guys just cut the wire and marette it all or did you solder or use butt connectors. just not sure which way to go. and looking for any help it would be much appreciated.

still using my stock speakers so I cant help ya out...

I had a pro do mine and they solder them but being in the electrical field I don't see anything wrong with butt-splicing either. The "male/female" connectors are fine by me too.

None, if I want a faster car I'll buy one.

Hey Jablaze. You are gonna want to solder your connections.. I would recommend getting what I use, called auto strippers. You can pick them up at Menards or depending on where you live, any hardware store. They are simple and you just put the wire in them and it splices them automatically and they are like $20. So first off:

All GM vehicles have nearly the same wires running through them. I have found this out by working on them soo many times. Btw, I worked at Circuit City before they went out of business doing installs. And we used the ALoc608's all the time for stock radios. The bad thing is you don't get the full control through them as you would through an aftermarket radio. And if your GM vehicle is over '01 they added a stupid databus system which makes your harness $100+. There is ways around it by making one with a regular MET 80-1858 depending. But thats for more experienced installers.

Now I would recommend depending on which aloc you have to put the neg and pos from the aloc together. (i.e. gray/stripe with white/stripe, and white with gray, and tie them into each other). Either way it still works but it saves you from having to run wire from left to right to right to left ya know?

and the brown wires you don't need. So then you go to your speaker. Left or right doesn't matter. tap on. depending on which speaker you go to depends on the pos or neg wires. Here's what I can give you a rough estimate on:

Most GM's have same colors, not included Bose, Monsoon, Onstar, or any extras. Which makes it another pain in the butt. So here:

RF..(+)Lt Grn (-) Drk Grn
LF..(+) Tan (-) Gray
RR..(+) Drk. BLue (-) Lt. Blue
LR..(+) Brown (-) Yellow

This is from what I remember when I did them. So you would take if you were tapping on the LR, which we mostly did for easy hiding of the aloc. So you would take the gray/white with stripes and splice in the yellow wires. and gray/white and splice into the Brown. Then your RCA's are right there and only need at least 3ft of RCA's. If you do it behind the radio it would be the same color. same deal. Solder I always recommend because a solder last forever. unless its a cold solder. But if it's amplified system just repost and I will help you with that but it would be similar. Hope this helps. and I would recommend Metra Parts and not cheap parts from Wal-Mart or any side house brand. has all the easy parts and the best and most durable parts. Good Luck! Don't forget to tape and make sure no exposed wires are showing. and NEVER cut off any factory harnesses. EVER.
