Activating XM

Hey guys..new here. I've had my '05 G6 GT for little over a year now. Had XM in my other car prior and then when I got the G6 I bought it used it was a lease but the person before didn't choose the XM option when it was bought. The thing is the radio I think has the potential for XM. Since I got my car i've been using an XM Radio that was professionally installed. What my question is is there anyway I could not use that radio and have pontiac activate that radio with my XM current subscription? It would sound so much better if it was coming direct from the moonsoon head unit as opposed to having another XM display. I hope this makes sense if not let me know haha thanks alot

Do you have a stock XM antenna on your roof?
See XM when you toggle through your source button?

There is an external (to the radio) XM module you would need.
Also the wiring, and antenna. Then you would need it to be programmed.

I havent done it....as I ordered my car with it but it can be done.

Module

Antenna

As for the wiring to the module/antenna you could ask the people who are selling the module as they removed it from the car. Or you could hit a junkyard....

Dealership to program head unit.

MODS:
Crab Intakes CAB, MPD Ram Air hood, Custom exhaust,
WAMS High Performance Tune and a whole lot more....

My Progession

Interesting...alright thanks a lot for the info. It doesnt come up when I scan in sources. There is an antenna on the roof but im not sure if thats the on-star one or an XM..id assume if it was XM I would see it when I scan. I would pick up these parts but not sure where i'd take them to get them installed however. Guess I will just keep the external dispaly for XM

they hadnt merged the antennas yet by 05.
The XM was in back on top and the onstar was up front on top.

half way through 06 they merged them into one "shark fin" located up front on top.

Soooooo if your roof has no antenna on its back side = no XM.
