New Rear Speakers and Sub

First off this a very informative forum. Great Job. Also this is my first post. Just picked up a 2007 G6 GT on Monday. Love it so far. Not impressed with the Monsoon system so I'm adding a Sub & Amp and new rear speakers. I've been reading on here so I know I need a line converter (already purchased) seeing as how i'm keeping the stock head unit. But i had a thought, the stock head unit has some sort or cross over built in, thats why the rear speakers have a 4 wire connection. one set for lows, and one for mids and highs, so i was thinking when i put in the new speakers, just hook up the mids and highs wires, and put the line converter on the lows. that way i don't blow my rear speakers with lows, and my subs only recieve signal for lows. Think it'll work? Thanks in advance.
