Wiring problems!

I own a 07 G6 and i tried putting in a pioneer head unit i own but after i wired everything there was no power getting to the head unit. I read somewhere that if you wire it to a fuse using a fuse tap it would work, is that what i need to do or do i need to buy a special wiring harness for it? Any info would help a lot!
