Pioneer AVIC-D3 Installed

Yesterday we installed a Pioneer AVIC-D3 double-din headunit with DVD, navigation, XM, Bluetooth, IPOD and steering wheel controls in my wifeís 2009.5 G6.

First a list of the parts:
Pioneer AVIC-D3 headunit with DVD and navigation
Pioneer XM tuner (GEX-P920XM)
Pioneer Bluetooth interface (BTB200)
Pioneer iPod interface (CD-I200)
Scosche steering wheel controls interface (SWCPS)
Axxess OnStar interface (GMOS-LAN-03)
G6 double-din dash install kit

I think it looks awesome, the sound is a lot better than with the stock head unit and the navigation works flawlessly. The Bluetooth and iPod function work great as well.
We mounted the XM tuner underneath the carpet under the passenger seat. The Bluetooth interface is mounted behind the center kick panel on the driver side. The steering wheel control interface and OnStar interface are mounted behind the head unit. The iPod cable comes out through the storage bay below the temperature controls.

A few minor issues of note:
1-All of the chimes work except the ones for the turn signals. I have to read through the Axxess instructions and see if I can figure out why.
2-TheXM reception with the aftermarket antenna is not as good as it was with the factory antenna. Iím going to see if there is a way to hook up the factory XM antenna. Searching through what I could find on google, some say you can, some say you canít. First I have to find where the factory XM tuner is located and go from there.
3-The only steering wheel controls we could get to program were the volume up and down. Everytime we tried to program the other buttons the OnStar kicked on.

Here are some before, during and after pics.

i have the same setup...

did you do the repinning of the mute wire and ground it and the parking break wire? taht is how to bipass the DVD safety function.

also have you done any custom splash screens yet?

did you get the 2009 map sets? (those discs are green, olders are red)

Check out AVIC411.com

they have EVERYTHING for that unit in that forum.

I didn't do the bypass yet. I am thinking about trying to do it with a switch so she can switch back if she gets pulled over.

I haven't done anything with the splash/backgrounds yet. We still have to spend some time playing with it.

Yes, we have the 2009 maps.

I already joined AVIC411.com. You're right, there is a ton of info there.

If I have any questions, I'll be sure to shoot you a pm.

Thanks
Billy

about the switch... that is a good idea. i thought of that too. but after 2 years or more with the unit i am glad that i have it hardwired. Televisions in cars is so second nature to police these days, c'mon... there is not a van out there after 2005 that does not have some sort of front seating Nav/systems display/DVD player.

if you are goign to get pulled over it is goign to be because the car is too sweet or she got a moving violation. and buy then she better hit the button or shut the radio off... when i have been pulled over teh FIRST thing i do is shut the radio off. shiz... when a police man/woman/person/thing is behind me i turn my music down even if it is not loud... it is like a reflex.

Let me know if you need any help

Thanks for the compliment.
I picked up the headunit, xm tuner, bluetooth & iPod from a guy on ebay for $320 shipped. It cost me another $200 for the steering wheel control, chime interface and installation kit.
