Replace Rear Blinker/Brake Light?

I pulled back the carpet, and it's all metal. How do I actually access the harness to replace the bulb?

Also, the "switch" inside with the blinker is throwing a service air bag light sometimes, and makes the blinker stay on after turning occasional, could this cause a short/failure to the left brake/blinker as well?

Anyone know what that part is called? About a year ago I had a shop offer to replace it for $650 but I didn't have the money at the time and felt it was too expensive. My air bag light comes on every now and then, but only if I move my seat or hit a hard bump it seems.

In my CarFax, I noticed a BOM replacement along with a blinker bulb replacement at the same time when the car was about 3 years old. So your issue maybe a more involved issue. Wish I knew more, I just got my G6.

You need to remove two 10mm nuts and then pull the entire tail light assembly out to replace the bulbs. It's not too difficult.

The turn signal and air bag light are two different issues.

The turn signal switch is weak and they do break making them not cancel after completing a turn.
The part is pretty inexpensive and replacing it is pretty easy. Here's a how to for that.

Since you mention the air bag light comes on when you move the seat or hit a large bump I'd say the wiring under the seat could have some damage or just be loose or dirty, unfortunately the whole seat usually has to come out and it isn't recommended most people mess with airbag wiring.

Thanks for the link, I am going to try and replace that myself. My wife and I share this car, so we adjust the seat often, which is why I am getting the lights I believe. The dealership said it was due to a faulty switch in dash/steering wheel area and needed to be replaced.

Does a solid airbag light mean no airbags if I get in a wreck? Or just indicating that I need to fix something?

I found the spot to remove to get to the bulbs now as well, thanks again.

The airbag light is hard to say for sure. I personally haven't done much work with airbag systems.
Unfortunately that may require a dealer visit, or a shop that does airbag work and has the right scan tool for that system.

Brake light is an easy repair. Just Google it. I have done it, and you will probably spend more time getting your tools together than the actual process will take.

As for the turn signal not shutting off, there is a part in it that is nylon. From what I have found, it is a recurring issue. You can get an inexpensive replacement off Amazon, but check with a local supplier to compare cost. Process for doing the replacement isn't too bad, and you will save a bit of money doing it yourself, if so inclined.

Thanks guys, that was way too easy. I guess I thought I had to access the bulbs from inside the trunk for some reason.

Just bought the blinker switch, going to try that this weekend.

I don't know what to do about the airbag lights, when the car had a warranty it was repaired once, they said the wiring under the seat was loose, and there was some switch that was bad in the steering wheel, I imagine they were trying to group he blinker switch into the repair quote. Makes me nervous when it comes on and I know the airbag probably won't deploy if I was to get in a wreck.
