New 07 Owner, model and TCS questions

So, after my beater ('95 Escort) dying and my wife's '99 Civic being totaled in a span of a few days, I wound up with a GM Certified '07 G6, while shopping for an Impala, of all things - glad I went with the G6.

The car has 40,000 miles on it, and runs like a champ. The VIN is 1G2ZG58N974154469. It has the 3.5L LZ4, with the 4 speed auto (no manu-matic). The badging on the rear only says "G6 V6". I am aware that on the 2005 model, there was the V6 and the GT models, but I thought on later years the SV model was the only one with the I4, and the V6 was only available on higher models. Is V6 a model in its own right, or is it just an option on the base model? For instance, I have cloth seats, no sunroof, no Monsoon, but power adjustable pedals - I assume that's an option its own.

My largest (really only) complaint with the car is the horribly overbearing traction control - completely kills the car on launch. I do not have a button anywhere to disable it. I gather a WAMS tune or the like would disable it, but I would prefer a switch. Is there anyway to add this in as an aftermarket option?

I do not, in fact.

Here's a picture of an '07 GT interior

Differences between it and mine are: Mine does not have any buttons (I assume stereo controls) on the right side of the steering wheel, no manu-matic transmission, only three buttons flanking each side of the stereo, "1-2-3-4" indents vice a sweep on the fan speed, and where the power ports are, in front of the emergency brake, I have two instead of one. I assume the 2nd one is where the TCS button is on this car.

You have the "G6 V6" model, common among the rental car fleet. It's the second lowest model on the chart, above the 4-cylinder model. Not that there's anything wrong with the car, but it does have the minimum number of features and options available.

You're accelartion problem is probably from running into the Torque Management System, designed to limit wheel slip and excessive strain on the drivetrain components. A tune will help with that as most of them remap the transmission shift points.

The air conditioning controls in that picture show the automatic version, which is I believe stock on the GTP/GXP, but it did not come in the other models. Your assumption about the button in the same location as your right power port being for the Traction Control is correct.

It was not a rental in its previous life (according to CarFax, anyway) thankfully. Thanks for the ID though. It'd been bugging me for awhile. In any case, I'm still very happy with the car. It's far better than anything I've had, and still has plenty of power.

I had noticed that the biggest power loss seemed to be <3K RPM, which makes sense after reading up on TMS. How abrupt are the shifts with a tune? I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with it, but my wife would probably be less than pleased with jerky shifts...

Also, has anyone had any dealer interaction with a tune yet? I read up on GMs stance (tune = warranty gone), which doesn't bode well for me getting one - I'm not about to lose that just for some more power. How does the WAMS "Invisitune" work?

Maybe you can add the button, I bet the wiring harness is already in place.
