Unhappy Oil Reset

I have a 2007 G6. I just changed the oil on it and cannot reset the oil monitor on the DIC. I did it the way the manual says but it will reset it at all. Is there something else I could try?HELP!!!

Switch ON the ignition, do not start the car.
Fully press & release the accelerator pedal slowly 3 times within 5 seconds.
When the reset is complete, the CHANGE OIL SOON warning light message can be cleared as described under CHANGE OIL SOON maint indicator.
Switch the ignition to OFF, and then ON again to check if the warning light has been reset.
If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life maint light has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

Does that really work? Iíve only heard of resetting through the stereo.

Yeah it definitely works. Especially if you've chosen to put in an aftermarket stereo. This is the only way without the DIC.
