noob question... why would you get the summing interface rather than getting an aftermarket radio?

so my current car is a mazdaspeed 6. the stock head unit is all fancy. I didnt want to loose the look of this at the time. Now I recently upgraded to a double din and took out the sum 8. wrapped it in carbon fiber along with other parts to complete the look.

I see. I have a g6 sedan base and the stock head unit sucks so I got the metra. I've been having problems with it though. You have to push the info button really hard to get it to work and sometimes the clock and temperature display don't work.
