Exclamation Class Action Lawsuite"Who wants in?"

I am setting up a class action lawsuite to G.M. for the Steering issues in all G6 cars. I had 1 G6-GTP sedan the steering locked up a few times and made the dealer take it back after many-many trips for repairs that they could not figure out. Then...Now my second G6-GTP Coupe has same issues and corperate has turned a deaf ear. Funny I have 2 files and put 7 complaints in to highway saftey board. G.M. has failed to provide a safe car and is not being responsable for poor product and our saftey. Look at all of you with the same issue's as I. Any lawyers here interested? My second one fellow owners.....how many more are out there?
JJH likes this.

Settled with G.M. and now sport G8-GXP with 100K bumper to bumper...... Wow Fast!

not to put down your idea or thoughts, but so far the government has spend billions of our tax payer money to bail these companies out. Then we turn around and get the media involved accusing GM of defective cars which in turn ends up costing billions in return. Stabbing ourselves in the foot? Maybe just the threat would make them change them out. Who knows.

Exclamation They need to be responsible for their product...and im an investor and so are you!

Let them do what they must.... They keep giving me the run around and i keep getting the same reps in India...that refuse to get me to a manager to complain. G.M. is not responding at all! They told me my dealer said nothing was wrong with my car(Kendall Chevy in Miami) and yet they changed the rack out and intermediate shaft because they were no good...and i have the invoice from 3 weeks ago..."but there is and was nothing wrong with it"....I count at least 150 people here with same issues...Yes we bailed them...not our choice....we the people did not vote on it...and if we did i bet they would not have been bailed out. Poor management of funds and over-payed exec's is not the U.S. Civilians problem to a "Private Company". Look at Ford....they held their own...Ganted im not a Ford person...but maybe i should be. Saftey is the issue here and the responsablility of the people that put US in danger. Have you got you money's worth? I know i did not (2 cars later..same issues).... How about the many on here? Shoot our self in the foot? No....we the people were forced by the President to be investors in G.M. yet we are told to eat crow.

Settled with G.M. and now sport G8-GXP with 100K bumper to bumper...... Wow Fast!

I might be mistaken, but you should have hydraulic power steering am i correct? At least my 06 GTP has. There are only so many things that can go wrong with that setup.

It's funny..really.

The media gives Toyota a rash because the gas peddle sticks or engine has uncontrollable power or whatever the case is.

The fact is that you can still drive, turn off the car and stop is indeed a plus..

When your wheel locks up and you cant steer, that results in a high pucker factor......so you don't sh*t your self, or kill your self or someone else.

For the life of me...I can't seem to grasp the lack of priority on this issue.

I wonder how many people have been killed because of this issue.

It's the same in aircraft industry though.

If there is an issue that will cost hundreds of millions $$ to correct, they look at the probability factor of a crash actually happening while calculating the probable death toll. The resulting law suits that incur will be tallied against the cost of correcting the issue.

So.. basically if it costs $850M to correct a problem on a fleet air frame and the probability of a plane crash subsequently resulting in a loss of life with law suits totaling $100M. The airline will roll the dice and take their chances as the most they could loose is $100M.

The REAL FUNNY thing is...corporations (air craft/Auto industries) are trying to get a bill passed that limits how much money one can get in damages in a law suit due to negligence, safety ....ect. Guess who else is pushing the issue....that's right....the insurance companies......Instead of pushing for more stringent safety regulations, accountability and technology..they just say YOUR CHILD WHO WAS KILLED DUE TO OUR CHEAP ASS IS NOT WORTH $100M. and we have legislation to back it up..the government say so.....haha.

I think I am going to start wrapping myself in bubble wrap before I leave for work every day..I may be involved in a plane crash on IL RT 2, get hit by an out of control prius or slammed in to by an unguided G6.

Well that's my rant!

I agree with Jetmech 100%

Anyone see the beginning of fight club? First thing i thought of when toyota said there was nothing wrong. But its the same reason Gm wont.
I dont have a hydraulic power steering. And i thought the lock issue was for Electirc power steering. Ive felt a lock feeling maybe 3 years ago but never thought anything of it.
Almost side swiped a car while trying to merge in with traffic. I actaully told my dad about it when it happened so im not just pulling it out off my a**.

If you read my post I got the run around as well. If there is a suit let me know, Im in for one. Anything anyone can think of at this point is worth a shot. The final quote a "customer service" rep told me was Pontiac is done with your case, your car is out of factory warranty so its not Pontiacs problem anymore, its your problem. She probably drives a Honda. I am done with GM, and my family as well. Ive been trying as much as possible to steer anyone clear of anything GM.

Just a little hint to you all.

Find out what the maximum amount is for a small claims law suit in your area. Where I live it is $2500, The last place I lived was $5000.

Figure out what a shop would charge to fix the problem with the steering lock up. As long as the techs are ASE certed and have GM school they cannot argue. Hell they have a TSB on it I think.

If the figure is at or below what your county or state limits for small claims, then file a small claims suit.

GM probably will not respond and you will win by default. If they do then have a hearing and present your case. Some state even allow a jury for small claims.

It's your right!!! You pay taxes.

Even If you loose GM had to spend the cash so that a bit of gratification.

Just a thought.

This sort of stuff pisses me off to no end.

Sorry, shouldve said Im done with GM, and my family is done with GM as well. My dad owned nothing but GM throughout his life, and he just traded in his Malibu on a new Subaru. Thats not a bad idea about the small claims suit, by the way. I have a family friend thats a lawyer that Im going to call about it.

I dunno, I am a GM man. I have owned Nissan, Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, and VW.

I think GM makes the best cars, Maybe because I know their products and their engineering. I would have to say that Ford and VW's were the worst cars I owned and I had owned several of each. Best cars I ever owned was a 67 Pontiac Bonneville and a 95 Buick. I had a 91 Caddy that was a turd though, burned oil and had major electrical problems worse than one of VW's I had.

Your dad sold the Malibu? That is one of the best most reliable cars on the road...new ones anyway.

Hello,
New member here!! Purchased a g6gt for my daughter an 06, now car has over 100,000 miles on it and I get recall notification in the mail regarding a recall issue for the power steering in my daughters car. poower steering light is on and while driving it loses the power steering and car feels like it doesn't have power steering. It happened to my daughter while in a turn and it was very hard for her to steer the car. Needless to say she struck as curb and gauged the right front rim/wheel. I took the car to the dealership with the recall in hand and I got the answer "your car has more then 100,000 miles so we can't do anything about "your" problem. I asserted the fact that I wasn't notified about a recall untill the car had over 100,000 miles. They said sorry it's your problem. Now my daughters car will not pass inspection, I have to buy a new rim and according to the dealer I have to pay a diagnostic fee to see what the problem is. although the recall clearly states, for her car, to change the steering column. First can anyone help with finding a replacement wheel (17 inch shiny one) and how much is it to replace the steering column??? Any help will be much appreciated. Frustrated to no end.

What steps did you take to "settle" with GM so I can do the same thing. In order to have my daughter in a safe car I have to pay for the repairs out of my own pocket. So I want to recoop the costs. Any advice would be helpful and appreciated
