G6 GXP advertised in October Autmobile

Has anyone else seen the flip out ad GM put in Automobile magazine for October 2006? The GXP coupe concept from last fall is pictured and hinted to be coming soon. This is the first time I've seen GM mention anymore about the car since the concept debuted last year.

Edit: here's a crappy pic, I already hung the ad on my wall

Yeah that looks just like the front end at SEMA auto show.
Thanks for the post!

Try next year, as a 2008 model. The production vehicle may show up at the New York Auto Show in April, 2007.

Cool. Except for that grill. Still hasn't grown on me. I didn't care much for Audi's new, big grill, but it got better over time. I'll keep looking at the ad every day til I like it
Does anyone see blackened/smoked taillights?

It would be nice if they introduced it as an '07.5 model. The sooner they can bring new products to market the better off GM will be. The next Accord drops soon, so beating it to market by 6 months will only be a good thing.

Oh wow... As much as I didn't care for the concept at SEMA, it looks so much better in that image. Maybe it's the angle/perspective..? I still say tweak that fascia and lose that spoiler and I will be a proud future G6 GXP owner.

hopefully they drop the hideous bucktoothed front end. other than that, and if they can resist turning it into a ricer-boy car, i think something very similar to the concept vehicle pictured would be nice.

I may be trading up to the G6 GXP, when it comes out next year. The production model will not be using the 3.9L V6, but the horsepower will be at 270 or a bit more.

I think there should be no less than a 30 HP gap between diferent engines, therefore the lineup should be as follows:
4 banger: 185 HP- Currently 169
V6/ GT: 225 HP- Currently 224 and if GM really wanted to be competitive they would kill this engine (3500) option entirely.
GTP: 255 HP- Currently 252
GXP: 285 HP- 270 would be a disappointment!

The GXP must get a manual transmission option to be a true competitor the Altima SE-R (which will probably pack close to 300 HP when it reappears in a few years).

I like your thinking. The GXP may or may not have a 6 MT. If the 3.6L V6 is used, don't expect a 6 MT. The tranny will probably be the 6T75 6 speed auto, which has a high torque capacity. I don't believe GM has a FWD 6 MT that could handle the output of a GXP-level vehicle.

I would expect 270-275 HP in a G6 GXP, but it may very well be more.
