I just looked at my Pontiac and took the airbag out. Good news! I don't need to replace the clock spring! There is an 8 pin connector that I checked continuity with. All the pins were functional. The only wires going into the clock spring (apart from the airbag wires) are a brown and black wire for the horn. All I need is a steering wheel with the buttons and then figure out the wiring behind the dash. My issue is how to wire the radio control buttons to a "universal steering wheel button interface", but I think that's the least of my worries. I'm most worried about where the wires for the DIC controls go, I haven't tackled taking the entire dash out of the car yet, so I'm not sure where to route any wires. I'm going to have to take out the dash and check which wires go from the radio to the instrument cluster (assuming there is one for the odometer) and figure out how to wire the info and enter buttons for a newer 2010 cluster.
