Newbie here. I just bought an '06 GTP. It has an aftermarket Prestige alarm installed incorrectly. I fixed most of the problems today.

However, I just need to pull the C2 connector from the BCM. I believe that is the horizontal plug. I move the gray clip back and I can pull the blue plastic off to expose the wires, but I cannot remove the plug itself. I was afraid to really tug on it in case there was something holding it back that I didn't know about.

Doing research on here and the web, it appears that the plugs just pull out. I've read about the corrosion issue and thought that could be what is making it stick.

If all I have to do is tug a little harder, I will try that tomorrow morning after I pull it back into the garage and remove the positive from the battery.

All that is left is to hook up the horn wire from the alarm brain box to the tan wire in position 14, next to a gray wire. If someone on here can explain how to get the connector out, that would be great. I just need to know where position 14 is or where to start counting from. If I can't get the connector out, I may still be able to tap the correct tan wire if I can get just a little help and maybe a pic or 2.

Or, if I'm in the wrong connector, please advise. I've found conflicting information on here vs the web. According to a web page that I found, the horn tan wire is in C1, position 13. The information I currently have is from Audiovox Technical Service, who assisted me a ton getting all the wires connected properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already love the car more than I loved my 06 Malibu LS V6.

Just in case someone else experiences what I just went through, I can save them some time.

To remove the C2 (or J2), or C1 (or J1) connector on the BCM, just move the gray clip to the fully open position. You should be able to take the blue cover off if you have it open all the way.

Then, all you have to do is make sure that you are removing the connector straight out. I must not have been doing that the 1st couple of times. I didn't have any leverage because the previous owner broke part of the connector, but it didn't affect it's operation. Maybe it was catching somewhere to prohibit the connector from coming straight out.

After 2 days of google searching, I found enough evidence to work up the courage to pull harder on the connector and it came out pretty easy.

As for the positions and where to start counting (because they are not labeled anywhere that I could find), if you have the connector detached, start at the lower left hand corner and count to the right. Then, move back to the far left and continue counting right. The upper right hand corner will be position 72. This is what I was told by a generous GM tech.

If you plan on much DIY repair I highly recommend getting the GMSI (GM Service Information). That way, 99% of the answers are at your fingertips. It's a huge time saver.
