I bought my daughter her first car and 3 days later the cig lighter wire nearly caught fire. It melted several wires and half the fuse box in the trunk. Was told it would need smarter to replace the complete harness, so I did. Now, the key won't turn in the ignition at all nor will the steering wheel lock. Her headlights and interior lights will come on but that's it. Someone please help!!

I have not personally dealt with this, but from what you describe I would be looking for problems round the ignition switch. Removing the key from the ignition switch would usually engage the steering column lock. I have heard of issues where the pins in the ignition key barrel can get stuck and prevent it from turning. Spaying some silicone lubricant in the key slot and working the key in and out of the lock might free it up. Otherwise, I would be double checking for any changes or something out of place related to the wiring harness replacement. Hope you can find and fix it
