'06 G6 -- Replacing radio buttons and knobs?

Hi all, I have an '06 G6 GT Hardtop Convertible. The power/volume button/knob on my stereo is peeling off and the #1 preset button is also a little worn. I think I could get by with just replacing the knob. I found this one... [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-76873-GM-Radio-Knob/dp/B0074DFHMW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404495058&sr=8-1&keywords=dorman+g6+knob[/ame]
However, the knobs in mine are chrome. The knobs themselves in mine are not bad, just the buttons. So my question is, how do you remove the old knobs and how do they come apart? Can I buy the set at the link above, and then just replace the buttons and use the knobs that I already have? Looks like a cheap set so maybe I'll give it a try.

Thanks,
Derek

I have all of my radio buttons wearing off. Has anyone used sticker overlays on these? If so, how do they look? I'm not wanting to upgrade the radio, so if I can make this one work that would be great.
I found replacement buttons in the "Help" section of Autozone.

...and the chrome rings just snap apart so you can reuse them.
I may get those! Is there anything available for the "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6....." buttons? Almost all of mine have some sort of paint missing on them.
I bought the OEM AC Delco button from ebay but you can find all the buttons you want there I'm sure.

I know this is an old thread but, for the benefit of those asking the same question these days I'm confirming these do work and look great. They are also translucent so the red light lits through. I have just replaced the ppwer button so far. The original one was almost entirely peeled off. Hope this helps.
