I'm not happy with the quality of the Spyder projector lights I bought off eBay. They have horrible light output and the CCFL's only light about 1/2 the time.

So I'm going to mod the stock headlights with some LED's and CCFL's myself.

I want to paint the chrome inside black (except obviously the dome reflectors).

I've managed to get the lens off and now I'm looking at the inside wondering if I can also paint the 2 flat parts of the chrome directly under the reflectors themselves? Or do these serve a reflective purpose, and should I leave them unpainted?

Please see the attached photos; the part in question is marked by an arrow.

Thanks!

It looks like they were designed to diffuse and reflect light upwards. It has little practical purpose and won't make a difference in forward light projection and illumination.
