Depending on the model and options if may be a "monsoon" system which would have a power amp in the rear of the car. You may want to check the fuses for this as well. Mine says "Monsoon" on the display when I power up the head unit. Also the monsoon amp hisses when it is on (unless it is muted) so that may be a clue as well
