Working on a 2005 G6 3.5 Cannot get the OBD port to connect. Pulled it out from under the dash and seen a burnt wire spliced in....Cut what I could and spliced together and still not able to connect. No odd symptoms. No lights on the dash. No fuses blown. I'm stumped. Found the diagram below. But there are 3 plugs into the BCM. Need advice
My questions are:
Think it needs a new BCM?
How would I find where on the BCM to test continuity?
Why would previous owner splice into this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I take it you have checked for power on the Red/Wht along with the 10A HVAC fuse. Also worth checking the Grounds. At the BCM I would add electrical grade dielectric grease to the female side of the two connectors and carefully work the connector back and forth to reseat the pins and hopefully ensure a good connection. The BCM / dielectric grease was the subject of a recall to fix some intermittent connection issues. Also check your scan tool works on another vehicle - I have wasted time troubleshooting only to find my OBD II adapter was faulty. Hope this helps.
