How hard is it to replace the 3.5 valve cover gaskets? For a while the car is at 180k but since 150k it leaks about 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. Looks to be from the front valve cover gaskets. Are there any other places it could leak at? When at a stop you can see the oil burning off the exhaust manifold which leads me to believe the valve cover gaskets.

Has anyone changed them and how hard is it. Its a v6 sideways so would have to get to the valve cover on the backside of the engine as well. Does look to be seeping from the front valve cover gasket along the front of engine. Is there any other places it could leak? It doesnt leave any oil under the car just when its running sometimes at a stop you can see the oil burning smoke off the front exhaust manifold which i believe when running the valve cover gets loaded with oil.
So how hard of a job is this and which are the correct gaskets and best to go with fel pro. Its the 2007 base model 3.5 sedan G6. Its not too bad you get a running oil change adding a quart every 1000-1500 miles but i think its something that needs to be repaired. Could try simply retorqueing the front or valve cover bolts whats the torque specs and special bit or socket? Walmart recently got rid of conventional which is usually thicker and doesnt leak as bad as synthetic blend or the full synthetic walmart supertech sells for 5k-10k miles or 1 year then oil change walmart supertech.

You think its the oil filter mount gasket? it looses a quart every thousand miles. I do notice at a stop sometimes there light smoke from under the hood where it looks to leak from the front valve cover gasket onto the front exhaust manifold. they do look a little harder to change. The car is at 180k miles 2007 g6 4 door 3.5liter.

Yes the car is at 181k miles. Its been leaking around the top front valve cover gaskets since 150k. i have to add a quart every 1000 miles which isnt too bad but when coming to a stop you can see smoke from the oil burning on the top of the exhaust manifold. I dont think there is a 2 piece design or gasket seperate attachment at the oil filter housing or is the oil filter housing a 2 piece design with a gasket? Have any pictures of the oil filter housing gasket location that is known to leak? Or how to replace the valve cover gaskets atleast the front one. I have to change the oil as its at 6k miles on synthetic blend. If you have photos of the oil filter housing gasket area where its known to leak so i can check when im under the car changing oil make sure its not that leaking? Some oil does end up on the flat part of the exhaust pipe right on the bottom of the engine side never figured out where that oil comes from but from the filter area you can see a few drops running down from the oil filter gasket. May have just been because i changed the oil i had brakleened it in that area and the few drops still appeared. A photo of the oil filter housing gasket area that is known to leak looked like a one piece design to me. Doesnt leave any oil under the car just looks like theres oil along the bottom side of the front valve cover gasket area and onto the front exhaust manifold. I was attempting but looks like it requires alot of stuff to be removed to access or replace the valve cover gasket. Its a 2007 g6 4 door sedan 3.5 liter. I use walmart supertech conventional 10w30 or 10w40 as its a thicker oil recently supertech swapped to synthetic blend as their cheapest oil or high mileage synthetic blend which full synthetic is real refined and will leak at the seals vs a thicker oil or conventional.

I'm having the same issue. I've got oil leaking out of the valve cover and leaking onto the exhaust manifold. I was wondering if anyone had a detailed description or a diagram of how to remove the valve cover. There's a few things in front of it and I'm sure what to take off.
