Hello, Pontiac G6 Gt convertible owners...I recently in December of 2009 bought a used G6 Gt Convertible To my dismay on July 4th I tried to close my roof on my convertible the trunk was completely stuck in a 90 degree position and the motor of the hard top quit making the normal grinding noise… So as per the manual us must have towed via flat bed to the dealer….I did so….After 3 days the technician found that the support bars that help the top bend into the trunk are slightly bent… Very upset the dealer said well we will have the part next week from another dealership…To no avail the part never showed up or was available!!!!...He told me it’s a know issue with the hard tops and it could take up to 4-6 weeks to get the part made and shipped to the dealership…. So FYI Hard top owners if your top struggles to close and u get it to close leave it closed and take it to the dealership… Any questions [email protected]...
Thank you

Good advice, my 2007 vert did the same thing on Memorial day and I had to have it towed in, they ordered the part, took 3 weeks, but they were able to close the top so I could use it, mine was a latch, a $24 part!!! I bought the car used and thought it was loud opening and closing, it was new to me, now the top opens and closes quietly!! Car is a pain in the a__ but I really like its style!!
Actually, my car was damaged by straps when the tow truck driver strapped down the truck of my g6 convertible, the strap dug into the paint down to the metal. Well, the saga continues, the parts for the hard top convertible were shipped to the dealer on the 19th and the 21st of July, however to the moral and ethical lack of service from Mr. Good wrench and employees...I never received an automated or verbal call to knowledge their arrival at the GM dealership in Murrysville, PA...So, If a person escalates a call to the Pontiac escalation line…It is my opinion that a form of retaliation was done to me as an consumer. I make me wait an extra two weeks for installation of two bent folding latches.. The missing part was a folding left rear latch part number 25-899347 out of pocket cost is 38.18 if your warranty was lapsed..

I am looking for a part # 103645463 for my G6 hardtop convertible HELP!!
If your top gets stuck you can manually lower or raise it very easily.

On the left side of the trunk is a small cover. Pop it off and you will see the pump. On top of the pump there are 3 hex head bolts. The inner most bolt (one closest to interior of car) is a pressure release valve. Turn it about 3/4-1 turn to release pressure. Then you can manually lower the top into the trunk and manually lower the lid. Once you have it down you have to lift the lid slightly and tighten the valve back down. Then you should be able to hit the button to lock everything back down. Note, the lid must be down far enough to make contact on the micro switches before the button will work again (if it shut off completely like mine) so you might need someone to hold it down while you use the switch to lock it.

Top stuck

Hello G6 convertible owners. I had a bumper to bumper warranty I bought with the car in March 2015, its a G6 2006 hard top convertible. I tried to raise the top back due to threat of rain and a couple part cracked behind the back two seats. I took to dealership after I was able to get top up (not secure but up and drive able) but they said after 2.5 weeks that the parts are nowhere to be found NATIONWIDE. I have a loan still on my car and the warranty is being paid too. Is this true that my car is now useless and not fixable? The dealership tried to sell me into a new car loan and I do not want to do this. I'm picking my car up today to ponder what i can do.
Hello,

Did GM ever send you anything regarding the broken top? I emailed them today because I cannot find the parts to get mine fixed. Same issue they are discontinued.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue, do you know what the parts are called that broke
Why can't GM make some parts for a few more year or at the very least give the rights to a outside vendor to do it some we can keep some good cars still functional. I will be in the market for another car soon as have always had GM but if this is how they treat their buyers I will be buying a Ford or Dodge for sure.
Bought on Ebay

I just found one of the assemblies for the cover on ebay. There is a link below for another one. I hope this helps someone.
