Looking to replace my tires soon on my 08 GXP sedan. I am thinking about changing the size from the 225/50/18 to 235/50/18. Anyone ever put these on before? Just wondering if I am going to have rubbing issues. Thanks.

don't know anyone that has done that before, but im gonna say you are probly gonna rub if not on the strut itself, then on the wheel well liners why on earth would you want to have a taller tire anyways?

Handling, braking, acceleration, will all be negatively affected if you go with a larger diameter tire. Much better to stick with the stock size.

it looks like you want a wider tire. So you want to keep the sidewall ratio right. Maybe go with a 235/45 or 235/40. This well get you a wider tire but won't increase the sidewall height.
the sidewall height is figured as a ratio depending on tire width.

Idk what width fits best. But I think you can go as wide as 245 but you may need a spacer to clear the strut

Exactly it. I am trying to go with a little wider tire but keep the same tire height. I cannot stand a lower profile tire. To me the lower the side wall height the more stupid the tire looks on a rim. Looks like you have all rim and no tire. To each is own though. I was just wondering if anyone has put tires on a GXP other than original but without lowering the side wall height and if they had any issues.

then you want 245/45/18 size tires same sidewall height as the factory tires but 2 sizes wider

You mention 2 sizes wider but will that size tire still fit on the factory rims? I am looking to keep using the factory rims and just upgrade the tires.

everyone says 245/45 are he widest, they look almost identical to the stock size though. g6 has ugly bulkly wheel wells i hate it.

The first number is the tires width in mm. So 245mm is certainly wider than the 225mm tires I believe the G6 came with. Wider tires make for more grip :D

They are wider your correct. When put on the car the width doesnt only come from the outside. The width is centered therefor it doesnt look much wider from a side view at all.

If your wanting a more aggressive look the 7inch junk wheel aint for you lol.

I agree. I am running the Cobalt SS wheel with 225/50R18. I like it because it looks more like the Bonneville SSEI setup, tire wise. You would be "best" happy with the 245/45R18. Specifically since the "45" is the Percentage of the width "245" so...
Stock side wall is [email protected]%=112.5mm Speedometer reads 60mph @ 60mph
Alternate size is [email protected]%=110.25mm Speedometer reads 60.4mph @ 60mph
Very little difference

245/45/18. Sounds good but still wondering if I will have rubbing issues or not. The gxp has the ground effects that partially come into the wheel well. Anyone have this size on a gxp?

no, you wont have rubbing issues with 245/45/18s on a GXP at stock ride height.......even if you were lowered on coilovers and did rub it would be very minimal
