hey everyone....
I have a 2009 G6 GT Sedan with the standard sound system + Active XM account. I was a bit annoyed that it has OnStar, but no Bluetooth hookup for my phone. If i wanted to upgrade the radio so that I can use a BT Device what type of radio/head unit should i get?

I dont want some little dinky "add on" that plugs into my cigarette lighter. I want one built into the head unit.

I really dont need a nav unit (Already have a garmin).

Or can i just go to a GM dealer and have them change out the radio?
Im sure the last option is the most expensive.

Thanks in advance

I have been contemplating a built-in bluetooth solution myself, The best I found was this
It's a pretty good solution in my opinion, as long as you don't use your onstar....

Chris, does this require the phone button on the steering wheel in order to activate / use the BT functions?

Yes it does, they can also be added as well if you dont have them.

Chris...what does this "retrofit" involve ?
Step 1 remove old VCIM
Step 2 install new VCIM
Step 3 use bluetooth
Step 4 Profit :)

Regarding the need for the phone button on the steering wheel:

I have the radio control buttons on my wheel: Volume up/down, Channel up/down, preset select (labeled 1-6)

Step 1 remove old VCIM
Step 2 install new VCIM
Step 3 use bluetooth
Step 4 Profit :)
Are you including the BT antenna in the package? I've seen others selling them as an add-on after buying the new VCIM.

Oh, and Step 5 if you have OnStar is to contact them (push the blue button or call on the phone) to tell them you have replaced your OnStar module so your service will continue to work.

I'm trying to balance this against a $100 car kit and some minor wiring work to integrate it with the stock stereo. I'd prefer to keep everything integrated.
