I bought the G6 Base new and it didn't have cruise control, steering wheel controls for the radio, or remote Door/Trunk lock/unlock.

On our 2009, we removed the original steering wheel that didn't have any controls, and were surprised that the wiring harness included wiring for radio controls and cruise control. I went to a salvage yard and found a leather wrapped steering wheel with oem cruise control and radio controls. Also cehcked the BCM harness and the wire was already instaalled for cruise control. Installed the steering wheel with controls and it was simply plug and play. Didn't have to change anything in the BCM or radio. It all works just fine.

There was a different thread regarding adding remote lock/unlock and here's the deal. If you have a car that came with TPMS and Satellite uplink for radio, phone, and all that stuff, you have a radio receiver installed in the rear deck that is active. You will need to have someone with a tech2 program the remotes, but if you buy the correct remotes it is simple to use a Tech2 and activate/program them.

I know thee cars are getting old now and there's not a lot happening with them, but thought this might help the few people trying to keep there cars alive. FYI, the self-serve salvage yard charged me $23 including tax for the oem leather-wrapped steering wheel with controls and it probably took a few hours total to get it picked and installed and checked out.

Speaking of this topic, my cruise control buttons are stuck so i need to replace the switch... How did you take the cruise control switch off the steering wheel? I've purchased a replacement (ACDelco D1933F Switch) and would like to get some info before replacing it, thanks!

You have to remove the air bag to get to the screw that holds the switch assembly in place. There are two holes on the back side of the steering wheel through which you push a screw driver or rod to relese the latches that hold the air bag in place. Do a search on youtube and I think you will find several videos that show how that's done. Don't forget to disconnect the battery and wiat 30 minutes before messing with the air bag.

Good luck.
