Hello everyone,

As the title implies - its time to end one chapter in the car world for me. I enjoy my G6 but it is a 2009 with 85,000 miles and I can just see the value dropping like a rock. I am not in any extreme rush to purchase so I do have a chance to look around, but a couple cars have hit my radar and I was seeing what you all thought about them.

Pontiac G8 GT
Pontiac GTO
Pontiac G6 GXP

The GXP doesn't have nearly the power the G8 GT does, but the price makes it very attractive to me. The GTO would be so much fun but I have not had a chance to test drive one yet.

What would you all do with those options? The car would still be my daily driver so no going nuts with mods, just looking for an effective and fun daily.

Thanks in advance,
StLouisDave

I loved my GTO, but there are a lot of issues that arise with higher milage like: water leakage, power windows stop working, phantom horn honk, thin paint, weak glass, stitching breaking on the seats, silver metal laminate the shifter and steering wheel bubbling and the list goes on. I know none of these are major in them selves and not all these issues affect all GTOs, but these things do happen and are not cheap to fix.

Go with the G8. Its pretty much a sport version of the G6s. I wonder why you are so set on another Pontiac, why not venture out to other brands. Maybe something newer, at least that's what I would do. Don't get me wrong I love my G6, but a change to something newer and nicer would be very nice.

I agree - I am looking for my 'last hot rod' before the wife and I have kids. The G6 is my first Pontiac and after getting rear ended by a dodge durango on the highway with minimal damage and putting on 70k ( 85k on a 2009 ) with zero issues I really like the brand. That - and on a Pontiac board I didn't want to deviate too far from the line haha.

The 'entire' list I am looking at aside from Pontiac is a BMW M series coupe or 330i, Mercedes E500 or CLK, Dodge Charger R/T, Hyundai Genesis 3.8, Infinity G35 or G37 or if I can convince the wife a Mustang GT ( had a '84 5.0 when I was in HS, tore it to shit - just happens my parents showed her the pics haha )

Don't go after the genesis. My father in law has the coupe and its a bucket of shit. My husband drove it out to my parents once, and my dad(major gear head, been in the industry for 30 years) was checking it out. Needless to say, my son isn't allowed in the car.

Due to part problems down the road, or if you plan to keep it for awhile, I'd get a slightly abused Charger HEMI. Even a new one is rather a decent deal these days, not much more over the new V6. Although resale with any Dodge isn't that great...I know.

the g8.

the gxp is just so excessive, and the gto, no offense to any owners, is too basic for me. it looks to bland for a pontiac. the g8 is the bomb though.

Lol you mean your wife. Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!! That'd messed up but I guess that's how it works. When your younger its your mom, and when you get married its your wife. Lol

Get the g8. My friend has a gto which I loved till my dad got his g8 gt. All I can say is the g8 is f**kin badass. The car is awesome and for the price it doesn't get much better. And like previously said the gto is nice but a little plain but the g8 just looks mean and classy, and that's something hard to do at the same time.

G8....GXP.... If you can find one that is... I guess you could settle with the GT Ha! G8's are the best car Pontiac put out in recent years. Thanks Holden! Great interior, solid build, just a great car.

Well another vote for the G8 here. I don't think you'd be disappointed. As for the rest of your list... I've had fun driving the Genesis around, for the price it's a blast and pretty reliable.

I was actually looking for a G8 when I bought the 6, beautiful car (Holden) but I talked myself out of it cause I didn't want to pay over $20K for a car already over 3 yrs old. If you got the cash though go for it you only live once.
