I'm the owner of a Black 2007 G6 GT convertible. Never owned one until little over month ago. Every time I try to look up info on something that has quit, I feel like I'm being taken around the world without finding out anything. Someone please help.

I let top down and it will not come back up. My husband managed to get to hydro reservoir but will not take fluid. There is fluid under cylinder above backseat driver side. When I try and raise top I hear motor but nothing happens.

Depending on how badly it is leaking and if you can build some pressure you may be able to move the top by hand with three of you. When mine leaked I was still able to get the trunk latches to release and with repeated runs of the pump motor and a helping hand to pull the trunk in the reverse open position. Once that was done one of us was able to push the button and two of us were able to lift the lid out of the trunk. With the top in the closed position but not latched we were again able to run the pump to get the trunk and latches to close so the car was driveable whilst I sent the main cylinders off to Top Hydraulics to have them reconditioned. Not cheap, but worth it to my mind to get the top working again.

If you intend to replace the cylinders, do yourself a favour and remove the covers by both rear windows. This will allow you to get to the clips and pins that hold the front of the cylinder in place.

Hope you can get it working.

Really only a guess at this point, but if there is fluid leaking then you have a problem. The system likely can not build up the pressure required to lift the roof which is heavy. Once you have located the leak then I would take it to a reputable mechanic who should have no problem understanding the situation. The hydraulic portion should be fairly straightforward. The electrical portion controls the timing of everything and may require a different level of knowledge. There are a number of members on this site with more knowledge than I have. Please chime in if you can. I am sure that the fluid/moisture that you describe should not be there.
Like one of the members suggests,,, these cars are sweet when they work. "When they work"

Update.. after the 2 pins in rear of headliner/top were noticed, top is finally up. Cylinder on driver side above back seat made terrible sound when manually putting top up. I really like my G6 but things are quiting or breaking faster than they can be fixed. Gonna have to sale her. Thanks everyone for all the help..

Wow that looks like a lot of work. Glad they got the top back up and good luck with whatever you decide.
