I experienced the same problem when I drove the demo around. According to my salesperson, the rear headrest do come out incase it is too intrusive.

...And trying to back up always gets you nervous. I always think I'm going to hit a car behind me, but then when I get out, there's like 3 feet between us! Still gotta get used to this car.

I figured there might be a button on the side for complete removal. I'll check the manual as well. Mine should be here next week, it's in transit now.
