Remove the ground cable from the battery and leave it a while. This will remove power from all the modules. This would provide the most basic of resets.

I quoted a recent reply by boomer, anyone that knows for sure, feel free to reply.

I had to take the battery out of one of my cars for a month while it was in storage. I guess while it was out the BCM lost is power and that seemed to cause a symptom similar to the brake light recall. After the battery had a chance to recharge the BCM, or so I think that is the case, the brake light recall symptom seems to have disappeared.
My question is... Am I on the right track and good to go or could I still have the brake light problem? Time will tell, I am sure. I would rather tackle the problem now than on the road 100 miles from nowhere.

Thanks everyone.
