First off what size motor?
Next check that the coolant for radiator is full
Do you mean the Check Engine Light? could be on for setting the code for coolant TEMP too low, which usually means a stuck OPEN thermostat. When this does happen the temp gage will not move and a few other things will not work either, like A/C.

My car does not have heat either
YEAR ENGINE SIZE and is the check engine light on when you drive the car will help members to be able to respond more effectively.
