I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 convertible, and I had the battery die (external lights left on). After jumping the car, I have had the words "changer parked" pop up on the radio when I unlock the car and open the door, prior to putting the key in the ignition to start it. What does that mean? How do I get the words off the radio (reset the message)? It disappears after about 5 seconds.

I have the same problem

I have a new G6 Convertible that I bought in February. I never have left the lights on in my car because they are all automatic. My battery died 2 weeks ago, I was very upset because it happened only after a short time and now this light comes on. I called the dealer today to ask them about it and they thought I was crazy! They said they had never had that problem before but said I could take it to them on Monday and they would look at it. If you have figured the problem out by now let me know. If not, I can let you know what they tell me then.

I have an '08 sedan that I purchased back in April. I have that message come on all the time as well and I have never had the battery die. My impression is that it is a safety precaution to "park" the 6-cd changer mechanics - sort of lock the sytem down so it does not get damaged in any way. Maybe I'm way off base on this one, but I generally don't worry about it since I don't have any CDs loaded anyway, I just use the radio and the AUX port for my iPod...

Dealership has no clue

I called my dealership and they had no clue. They gave me a 1-800 number to call to Pontiac and they had no idea. They told me to take it to the dealership to diagnose, so if you have taken your G6 to the dealer and got an answer I'd appreciate the post of the answer. Pontiac told me that the message should not appear on the radio. That gave me zero confidence.

Changer parked

Took my car to the dealer on Monday. They ran some test and came up with the conclusion that it must be due to changing the battery (really you think). So they said maybe the computer has not recognised the change and it should go off in a few weeks. My battery got changed a MONTH ago and you say it has not been recognised?! So basically, they just didn't want to admit that they had NO CLUE and gave me a random answer. They said if it is not off next month bring it back.

I took my G6 in, and the head guy at the service department said that I must have blown the power supply to my CD changer. They put a CD in and it worked fine. The person who wrote my problem up for the service visit saw the message, and then they could not correct it. If you haven't done it yet, put a CD in the radio and see if it plays the CD.

I am only assuming it's the CD player since they put a CD in it and the message went away. I was in for an oil change and they did not charge me for looking at it, so I can only assume my warranty covered it. If you pop a CD in, it plays, and the message goes away, I wouldn't even bother taking it in.

Ok, there has been a discussion about this over on g6performance.com.

Here is a copy of the service bulletin one of the guys there dug up:

#PIC4509A: Radio Displays Changer Parked Message - keywords battery CD display int intermittent intermittently no owners park radio - (Dec 27, 2007)

Subject: Radio Displays "Changer Parked" Message

Models: 2004-2007 Chevrolet Malibu

2008 Chevrolet Malibu Classic

2005-2008 Pontiac G6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This PI was superseded to update models and model years. Please discard PIC4509.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
A customer may comment that the radio will display a "Changer Parked" message intermittently at times, and there is NO explanation in the owner's manual for this message.

Recommendation/Instructions:
This message will display after the CD mechanism has initialized or when you manually park the CD mechanism. Initialization occurs normally upon a battery reconnect. The mechanism will unpark itself once you press the CD load button.

Note: After pressing the CD load button, you will NOT get a message that's it's unparked.

I own a 2007 G6 and recently gave someone a jump. The next day I started the car and the radio flashed the " Changer Parked" message. Could not find anything about the message in the manual, so I research it here and thank you for the answers. In the mean time, I just happen to change the CD and the message stopped appearing.
Thanks

i have a 2007 pontiac g6 convertible and was searching around and noticed your post from a few years ago. My car battery has been dying on me lately and also have noticed that changer parked light being on. could that possible be the source of my battery problem. today after getting the battery charged again, I removed all the cds from the player and noticed the light was no longer on. wondering if that solved the battery problem.

Greetings. I too have been chasing the elusive Changer Parked message for more than a year. I appreciate the bulletin info above. My question is this, has anyone successfully replaced the radio? I think my CD/Radio/Message system is scrambled after multiple attempts to fix it. My dealer 'doesn't fix radios' and I had a car audio guy look at it, and he indicated it's a 'dealer-only fix'. Thanks for the advice.
