Hi All, I am new to the forum, and I need solid advice! I have the opportunity to buy a spotless and loaded 08 G6 convertible for $9500. The dealer says it needs a top "motor and linkage", which is why it is priced fairly low. He also said the local Chevy dealer says you cannot get these parts except in a junkyard, and even then would be very difficult to find. Is he right? I would buy this car because of its spectacular condition if knew I could get it fixed. Any thought out there? Thanks in advance!!

Convertible top parts are as rare as rocking horse droppings. Your may get lucky, but from what I have seen on this site and others it is going to be extremely tough to find parts. You may get lucky, also it is possible that the seller has mis-diagnosed the issue leaving you with a problem that is easier or much harder to fix than expected.

Only you know if you can afford to gamble the 9.5k or if you can live with a convertible that does not convert.
