It will increase airflow. HOWEVER, it will get dirtier faster. But then again, I think most people take it out any way. You will hear a major sound difference between having it out and in too. ;)

Oh nice. How much faster does the filter get dirty with it out?
the intake resonater has those 2 bubbles on it, they are used to trap water and big dirt and stuff, so if you take it off, you have no where for all that to go but straight in the filter...so you can use your imagination to figure how dirty it will get faster
- no where for water to go since the stock box is contained.

I would leave it on there till you get one of the aftermarket intakes.
Stock Intake

Before I bought my crabs I removed the intake resonator and it was a bit louder. After about 2 and a 1/2 summer months it was too dirty and the filter needed replacement. That's when i bought my crab.

does the 2.5 summers mean it is a summer car and only lasted like 9 months or does it mean it lasted 2.5 years?
I think he means after driving in the summer for 2-1/2 months he had to chage his filter
ahh guess i should read better lol

There's a hole on the bottom of my air box... If there wasn't what would the point be of the resonator?
this has probably been asked before but the resonator is for keeping the crap out of your air filter. when the CRABs are installed and the resonator is removed, what is to keep the filter clean and when would it need to be replaced again?
once CRABS or any other brand of CAI is installed you have a free floating cone shaped air filter. Ive noticed that its the bottom of the filter that gets dirtiest. so when i notice its dirty i just spin it until the whole thing is dirty then i just use the K&N cleaner and oil to clean it. no need to replace it.
alright cool thanks, how long did you wait before you spin it?
once i notice the bottom is dirty, about two months... i think ive had it for about a year and i just cleaned my filter for the first time.
alright cool, thanks for your help, i think that will be my next mod when i have the money
Greetings,

I have been doing some research on some CAI for my G6. I noticed that a lot of G6 owner's are using the CRAB intake. I would just like to know is it worth it?

I had a CAI I bought off ebay for my truck and it completely messed up my motor and everything. It would HUM and the only way to make the HUM go away was by pushing on the gas. I really don't want to take a chance and messing up my new G6. People help..

Is it worth the buy? Has anyone had issues or noticed anything that isn't right? Does it work good in the "COLD" weather? Also, on the website I noticed all the options but I'm completely confused between the OPTION 3 and the FPU. (I'M A NOOB.) The option 3 is more than the FPU but the FPU comes with all the piping. Someone please help because it would be greatly appreciated.

well to answer your question about the options, option three is the heat shield with coupler and filter, the FPU is just the pipe. you need to get 3 and the FPU, the FPU is an upgrade from three.

As far as your other question im not really sure, ive never heard any complaints about the CRABs and i am going to be getting it when i have the money. Lampoon would probably be the best one to answer your other questions, im sure he will read this soon.

Oh, so OPTION 3 and the FPU go together? So basically for the full CRAB CAI system its going to cost $325?

Is there much of a difference if you don't get the FPU?

if you get them both together than yes it would be 325. im not really sure how much of a difference it makes, but i know im going to get option 3 when i have the money and i know i can always add on to it later.

I see. Thanks for the info. And better yet, I never thought about adding on later. Makes it a lot easier. But if I'm going to buy it I would just do the full system. But that's just me so I can see the major difference.

yeah i want the entire system too, i just dont have the cash right now. i start my summer job monday so i should be able to get it soon.
