I really have been wanting a G6 for quite some time. With the recent $6500 incentive in my area (MI) I am thinking its wise to jump on it. After all is said and done and with taxes, I should be around $17000 out the door on a $22400 priced G6. Seems like a good deal to me at the moment. A local dealership has just the one I want too. I would almost have positive equity on a brand new vehicle which rarely happens with no money down these days.

Anything I should look/listen for when I test drive it? I am getting the V6 model sedan. What are your thoughts on resale in a year or so?

Thanks all, great forum.

if your gonna sell it a year or so down the line buy a used one...07or 08 model.
Can be had for 10 grand with low mileage. Dont spend 17 thinking next year you will get close to that.

Buy it because you can get a brand new car with full warranty for the price of a used car. If the one the dealer has is to your liking, grab it while you can. As the inventory on new Pontiacs goes away, it's going to be harder to find what you like. I bought my G6 GXP at the end of September, 2009, for just over $21K +TTL, almost $10K off. That included rebates, discounts and gmcard dollars. I could have waited, but I've been driving it for 3 months and was able to garage the G8 before the snow hit. You can't get the comparable cars for that price new. I'm liking the G6 more each day that I drive it and now realize why Pontiac sold so many of them.

Thanks for the replies. I have spoken to the dealer and they are even willing to sell it 1000 below %'! Pricing which I have confirmed is the true price by visitng the GM family first website.. I know they are desperate to move hese 09's off the lot. I wonder if I could get them to even lower?

I'm not planning on selling in a year, I just got approved at a high interest rate so what I wanted to do in a year is refinance at a lower rate as my credit appoves so that's why I mentioned resale value in a yhear. That's about how long I would need before I could refinance.

You might be able to negotiate the price down. The 6500 rebate doesn't cost the dealer anything as it is a factory rebate. If you choose to finance, you could also take the 1500 cash back and 0% for 72 months but you can't have both the first rebate plus the finance offer. Don't think you are saving yourself any money by going the finance route though on a new car. The value of the car drops tremendously after a year and is probably at less than 40% of its original value by 2 years. Keep it for the long-haul if you want to make it a better purchase and if you want to save more money buy a used 2007/8 model with low mileage.

If you want to refinance, your credit will suffer and not improve a year after taking out a large auto loan. Don't think your credit will magically improve and don't buy something you can't afford.

^^Agree, I've done that, not fun to deal with that.

2009's are nice, if you can find a 2009.5 get those, Remodeled interior and exterior. Check them out.

I do agree though, they are AWESOME cheap now!
