Driver's Information Center Question for aftermarket stereo

36433 Views 25 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  zenish
I want to put in a Double DIN stereo in my G6, and was wondering if there is a way to retain the Driver's Information Center for it. I know there are ones for single DIN. Any ideas?

Why not just install it yourself? All you do is colour match the wires and connect them together.
It's pretty easy to get at. There are threads showing how to remove the radio that you can follow to take the dash apart. From there its only 2 or 4 bolts that hold the center console in. There are clips that hold the silver piece around the shift to the console. Once you start to pull the console out you have to disconnect the wiring from the traction control button and 12V outlet. Then you can just pull the console out, drill your holes and connect everything.

You have to buy a stereo for it to be discounted.
Shouldn't take much more than a couple hours. My first install in these cars took me about 6 hours, but that included installing the new headunit, new speakers and amplifier.
