So here's the big question, What will get you more horsepower: a Dyno Tune or a PCM tune by WAMS, or Vector, or Whatever. Does it make a difference if you already have mods like CAI and GT-R exhaust?

For most cars, a mail order tune does fine. Basically they load a fairly safe program into the PCM, and let it do it's thing. With a dyno tune, you get the most power from your car specifically, and they take a lot of time.

Usually with mods like turbos, superchargers, and ported heads would require a dyno tune.

That's kind of a loaded question. In general, a dyno tune will get you the best results because it's specific to your car. Now, the big difference is the tuner. Whether or not the guy knows what the hell he is doing or not. It wouldn't be out of the question for the WAMS tune to out perform a dyno tune if the tuner is doesn't know how to do his job. So, the question you have to ask is how good is your dyno tuner...

Exactly, and not to mention your location because if you live in a high altitude area I would go dyno tune hands down, But IMHO this is the wrong place to even ask that question, this forum is heavily biased.

Dont bad mouth the forum because no one sees eye to eye with you on allot of things.

The problem with a dyno tune is very few people know how to do our cars. SOME PEOPLE think that just because they are a tuner that they can do a better job.

HP Tuners wont even support our processor so your tuner is left with NO ONE to ask.
Soooooo if they wernt doing it back when it was supported they are shooting in the dark.

I even inquired AGAIN last March : http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?p=169602

But it seems like someone brings this up every month.

There are 3 places with experience doing hundreds+ of G6 tunes.

1.Westers in Canada
2.Vector
3.Chris White

They have experience with our cars. Chris is on here - his name is GTPprix

I know Ray took his G6 to Chris and got the Dyno tune and what I bought was a copy of that tune....we both had the same model and year. Sooooooo in essence- Mine was dyno tuned. ;)

Hollar at him cause he did others.

Hey don't turn this around on me the forum being biased, I don't mind that, it's when YOU come in on every thread and tell people there are only three options that ticks me off, especially when it's clearly not. it makes seem like your getting paid or something..... GTPprix doesn't even come on every thread. Nor does he pretty much tell me i'm a f'ing liar.

Well that is the great thing about a barometric pressure sensor; the ECM accounts for this at key on before the engine is started so you are good to go either way :)

You are opinionated to the point of ad nauseum.

You dont even own a G6.

ALL the mods want you gone from here as you offer nothing of value.
You call the forum heavily biased and dont want me to turn it around on you?

Im curious...why are you even on here? Besides trying and sell your HID's...?

I come on in every thread? If I posted at your rate to longevity I'd have 1500 more posts than I do now.

Quite the buzz this thread has started. I think that the dyno tuner I am going to is experienced, but I am definitely doing a little more digging to find out if they really are as experienced as they say and if they are familiar with the g6 platform. I think I am going to dyno tune it anyway just to answer my original question...For everyone I just know are itching to bite anyones head off that mention the word turbo on this site (Hehehhe) I also have been inquiring a few tuners to see what they think about the application of a turbo on a g6. Hey hey we all know it's possible with enough money, and if you have enough money go for it. I think it's worth knowing more about the topic even if no one actually does get a turbo. I am going to be a college student soon, so money wise I am not rolling in the dough so if turbo ever does come into the picture as a possibility, am I am not saying I am going to install it, I hope that I do get to install one and have everything about it be perfect, which i know will take some time and money. Anyway back to dyno tuning, I think that since I live in New England and Chris lives so far away, I am limited to well-known dyno tuners for the g6 platform. I think what I am looking at is reputable, and I will post what I get done and know.

I have an impala with the same engine ;)

Thats funny,I seem to help alot of people in the audio section. and if it's more of If don't say what you want hear you call me out on it, Do I do it to you? No, but for some reason seem to every time and i have let it slide on many occasions and tried to be nice but I'm sick of it.

I joined on behalf of my friend who was having some issues with his car, and if the forum would let you view all the pages with out joining I would have probably not. Also I'm on damn near every forum in the autoforums.com network.Oh and the comment about trying to sell HID's I can counter that with you and your intakes.

That's quite funny I haven't logged on and a week and half before today LOL.
Read the quote, I hope that answers your questions. :)

Great cool, I don't know how aggressive you tune, but at what point does fuel grade (87,89,91,93 ETC..) and altitude factor in?, I ask beacause in Higher altitudes they generally use lower grade fuels
Also bud did you add a new car??? (2008 CTS4 3.6L DI - Intake)

What did I do to you? and calling me a tool and threating me is not very ''mod like'' I'm a mod on many other forums and I learned rather quickly not to do that, It Just pisses people off and incites more anger and makes an bad situation into Chernobyl
