I have a 2007 G6 base model. The check engine light came on. When I got it test I was told it was the TPS (throttle postioning sensor) I called autozone and i was told I had to buy a whole new throttle body is this true or can I just replace the sensor. PLEASE HELP !!!!!

The sensor is integral to the throttle body & not available separately. What was the actual code number?
This. And also autozone employee's job is to sell you parts not perform diagnostics. They'll sell you wheel lug nuts if they can get you to believe it'll fix a TPS code.

Agreed. Take any advice you get from a store clerk with a huge grain of salt. It's the actual code/s itself that's important.
