Engines

So I was dwindling through the gm site and found their performance sections. Then I found the engine section, here http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/Parts/showcase.jsp

THis got me wondering...Are any of these engines compatible with the G6?
The tranny's on this site to are four speed, but are they compatible with the G6?

I also noticed that the tranny's can't handle that much torque, which made me wonder why they called them high performance. THe whole point of getting a beefy tranny is so they can handle alot of power, but none of them on the site can handle that much. I mean they prolly couldn't handle 7 psi of boost on a g6 GT!!!!

OOPS SORRY!!!
What i said about the tranny's was wrong. I thought it said 270 not 370 lbs of torque they can handle. SO yeah they are good LOL :D...
send them an email. that will probably help...and why are you so impatient? if nobody knows if it'll work, then nobody will answer...
Yeah there shouldn't be any problem fitting a RWD engine & transmission application into a G6

NO, theres only v8's and the smallest v8 would not fit, you want a v8 and fwd buy an 06-08 impala (LS4 325ci small block)
Putting a V8 on a FWD car is stupid. Which is maybe why they are getting rid of the Impala SS. For the longest time I thought it was RWD.

No, An FWD with more than 305 h.p. is stuipid...(it has 303), It drives damn good and is very fun, and beileve it or not with a lil e-brake quite tail happy :) also with light mods can easly step into the low 13's in the 1/4 mile which is mainly due to it's mild curb weight (3600-3700lbs)

The reason they are GOT rid of the ss is GM is doing big things in 2011/2012 The caprice Cop car will be the new implala with diffrent Looks of course....

What they did do is use the 3.9 V6 in the LTZ which has all the same stuff as the SS Minus 303 H.p. but they gave it (230 hp) which is still plenty.
i don't think that high hp/tq FWD cars are a bad idea...as long as you have an LSD and tires that will help prevent wheelspin...the gas consumption would be ridiculous for a DD, but that's not really what we're talking about here...we're talking about fun factor...if you can kill or at least minimalize the understeer, you'll be fine...

for example, look at the custom turbo honda's that have over 250hp...they're super light so they handle like go-karts, but they'll still throw you back in the seat.

Not as bad as you think with an v8 a turbo v6 or 4.......

the next version of the impala will be based on the holden platform that the G8 is on....and it WILL be RWD...so that shoulda be pretty nice

Go look up the caprice cop car

sounds good to me. holden cars usually turn out really well...their engines are awesome, too...ever heard of the Opel Calibra? My previous car had the same block with different internals and heads and were easily interchangeable.
Wow great, lot of conversation. I think that 3.9 liters is a lot of bore for just 230 horsepower. The cop car version or the ss version (is there even going to be one??) is supposed to be turbocharged right? Like 355 horsepower or something. Sounds nice, it would blow the old ss engine out of the water LOL.

Hey did you guys know the new mustang v6 is going to be 3.7 liters with 305 horsepower and get like 30 mpg? Sounds like ford is finally trying to compete with the base camaro...LOL! When I was car shopping I was debating between the 6 and the mustang. THe mustang is 4.0 liter v6 and the g6 is 3.5 yet the g6 gets better gas mileage and has 14 more horsepower and I sort of need fwd for the winter so even though I wanted a mustang, I got the 6.

Good thing they updated the engine because the previous choice was just stupid. Bad gas mileage, no power.

I hope so. At least it'd be somewhat of a replacement for the G8. I was looking into getting a G8 with the rebates but none of the dealerships close had any left.:(

Go look up the caprice cop car
The new caprice is going to be slightly smaller than the G8. I'm hoping they come out with a civilian version of it. Either choice would be awesome. But then again a RWD driving up to PA in winter wouldn't be pleasant.

EDIT:
"This is a specific police application and will not be available to the general public." Go to 1:25. damn

355 HP, 384 lb-ft Torque

Another link with pictures. Bears an uncanny resemblance to the G8.

If i really wanted it i could get it ;) and You got that wrong The caprice will be THE BIGGEST car on that platform so it will be bigger than the G8.

And with that output it's run low compressions so it can run that super shitty gas. should get decent gas mileage too. I really Hope they make these cause I'm sick of old ass crown Vic's,chargers, and the cop version of the impala(which is ****ing fast for the lil 6 it has).

Also this should be in EVERY gm car over 40k Also LMAO with the g8 in the spedo

See less See more
I thought for sure that the caprice was a turbocharged six cylinder.

I guess I was wrong but during that video their was a caption that said v8 and soon v6 so who knows.....

I kind of like the fact that it wont be available to the general public because that way I dont confuse other cars with the cop car LOL...I seem to do that alot. hehehehe
I wonder what GM will replace the G8 with then, I mean they have the camaro but no other options??? Thats strange.
Also LMAO with the g8 in the spedo
lol I didn't catch that. Good one.
