I didn't see a folder for farewells or goodbyes, so I thought I'd post it here.

Not a frequent member, especially of late, but I enjoyed the forum for the time I was a member and owned the G6. I guess more times than not I came here when I was having an issue of some sort, which thankfully, wasn't too often.

I've had the hots for the Solstice for some time now, just never figured I'd own one. The stars finally lined up I guess - traded my 05 G6 GT about a month ago for an 08 Solstice GXP. Great car, fun to drive - a lot like my motorcycle, down to the storage. I actually think my bike has more storage space when the top is down on the roadster, lol.

I still can't believe GM opted to drop Pontiac over the likes of Buick or Cadillac, or even the GM truck line (I'm not one that believes there is actually a REAL difference in GMC and Chevy trucks, but I know they're out there).

I still loved the G6 the day I traded it, as much as the day I bought the first one (owned two, F3 tornado took the first one away). When I traded it it DID have the steering clunk and I'd fought a wheel bearing problem that my tire shop said was the fault of a cupped tire, but I still loved that car. For what it's worth I had just installed a new set of tires (at a greatly discounted price, by the way) the day before trading, same road noise. The dealership repaired the wheel bearing while I test drove the roadster, and even had the "G" sold before I came back to tell them we had a deal.

So long G6...so long Pontiac...so long fellow forum members. Enjoy 'em while you can. I guess you can say I jumped ship in trading the G, but I stayed in the same (Pontiac) fleet

Considering I don't drive a LOT (compared to most) and commute on the motorcycle as often as I can, I honestly didn't look at gas mileage before buying. But, I've been pleasantly surprised with an average that nearly equals those I saw in the G, with a lot more "wow" factor in the right foot area.

I opted for the automatic tranny, which probably isn't as fun to drive, but for those evening cruises with the top down, so I can relax in the passenger seat with a beverage in one hand, cigar in the other, while my fiance handles the driving chores.

Haven't done a lot to it, and probably won't - tinted the windows, high performance air filter, and and Ipod controller kit is about it. The rest is just drivin' and smilin'...

Actually still have a G6 coupe in the "distant family" so I might still be seen here. Fiance's family inherited an 06 convertible - owner died a month after buying it and driving it a mere 467 miles :(
