my g6 has this and was wondering, WTH is it? Is it suppose to flash high beams when you turn your turn signal on?

Oh the elaborate ficticious story I could concoct 
Actually it's if you pull the turn signal stalk towards you the brights will come on until you release it, so if you pull and release a few quick times it will "flash" the brights, which is a universal signal of a myriad of intentions, passing & otherwise

In VA it means slam your brakeswhich is a universal signal of a myriad of intentions, passing & otherwise
