HELP!!! I have a '06 G6 GTP with a weird noise!! It sounds like it is coming from front passanger side, but I'm not sure. It sounds like an airplane taking off (no joke)... , or like a fan buzzing, lawn mower... (I've used all those analogies to describe the noise). It gets rather noticable around 40-50 mph. As, my speed increases, it gets a little louder and speeds up. But if my speed decreases, it does as well. There is no "check engine" light on.

I just had new tires put on it (i have a crap-load of miles on it) about 2 1/2 weeks ago. The tires are slightly larger than the original (it's a long story, but I was assured that it was fine to do that). I just had the oil and air filter checked yesterday. Both of which I have been told are fine.

It has been ridiculously frigid here in Chicago.. not sure if that has anything to do with it, but the noise is there even if the car is warmed up.

I hate dealing with car issues/problems.. and I hate the dealership even more. They are rude, and I always have to wait for hours!!

I am looking for some help with this problem. I DO NOT want to be stranded or have the stupid thing blow up!!!!

Yes, I did that. There was a lot of snow stuck between the tire and car itself, but the noise is still there.

bet ya its the wheel bearing.. can't really troubleshoot because you have to have weight on the bearing to hear the noise.

My daughter complained of the same noise with her 2006 G6. Ended up being a wheel bearing. Had to replace entire hub.

yes, it was a wheel bearing. i had it in yesterday because my check engine light was one and the transmission was shifting a little hard. he told me right away about the bearing and fixed it for me that day. guess they had to replace the whole hub assembly but its quiet as a mouse now and the steering has greatly improved

the wheel speed sensor is built into the bearing. So the whole bearing assembly has to be replaced. No more early 90 or 80's where you can just pop some grease in there..
