I am getting the 05 G6 GT 4 door. it has every option including onstar, and 6 disk monsoon system, but it does not have the factory XM installed. my question is can i buy the receiver and antenna and have it work through the factory installed head unit?

I found the Terk XMDGM100 but it does not list the G6 as a compatable car. It says it needs to be a Class II radio. What class is the monsoon radio on the G6?

Not good. So how can i get XM to work with the G6 head unit? When I talk to the parts guys they say its not offered. There has to be a way to get this to work with the factory radio.

Is there a receiver that uses the GMLAN connector I can buy?

Bueler? Anyone?

Surely it is possible to get XM to work with the factory head unit if it did not come with the car from the factory. Please help!!!

You only have a couple of options. You can either replace your HU with one that has XM because I am pretty sure that the tuner is built into the radio, although I could be wrong. Or you can get an aftermarket xm adapter with an FM modulator.

:p XM is a separate receiver. Radio is no different on a vehicle with or without XM (as long as you didn't get the base radio which does't have aux inputs to support XM or OnStar

^ Dealer, off a crashed G6 that had it, or from someone who had it in their car and threw it out because they got an aftermarket setup. Your best bet is the dealer. It'll probably cost you more than it would have originally though.
Ive already tried the dealer. they dont have the xm receiver for the G6. So i guess its find a crashed one. This sucks! lol

Does anyone on here have one they'd like to sell? Or know of a website where we can find wrecked G6's. ? The dealer says they do not have xm receivers for the G6 radios.

You must have a dealer who doesn't know how to order service parts

I've talked to at least 5 different dealers and none say the XM radio for the G6 is one that can be ordered. If anyone knows a part number or something I can give the parts dept that'd be great!

Ah, what they mean is that they can't add one to your vehicle (most likely). In order to do that you that you would have to add antenna, cable and then the wiring from module to the radio (none of which is in your vehicle).

So are you saying the antenna, wiring, and module is available to be ordered thru a GM dealer? If so I can do that.

Its just that every GM dealer i've talked to said the same thing. It cannot be added after it leaves the factory. If I could just get the parts I can take it to my local car stereo place and have them install it.

^ While thats true, I'm pretty sure an aftermarket antenna isn't going to mate up to the stock XM reciever.
Exactly! that is the problem. I mean obviously i know i wont get a hole cut in the roof for the antenna. i'd have it routed thru the rear window. the problem is getting a receiver to be controlled by the stock stereo unit. Nobody anywhere has added xm after the fact that uses the stock unit to control it. I would have thought someone in north america would have done this.

Any luck yet? From what I know about XM the antenna connections are supposed to be standardized. What you need is an XM reciever, but also you need the wiring. Your car may or may not have been built with the proper wiring and connections in the harness. I also did check and there is no add on kit. Try gmaccessorieszone.com for any GM stuff.

I have tried finding the factory xm receiver but not one single dealership in north america can order one. i found an internal gm document talking about how to replace a defective xm radio. They did state to make sure the car already has XM.

I really dont want a unit with a seperate display and a modulator connection. I want to keep a clean look on the dash. I dont know why terk has not made a direct unit for cars like this. I mean this car has been out for over a year now.
